Q1)How do I log in to my Nyack College/ATS Library account?

A1) You will use the same “Single Sign On” username and password that you use when you log in to my.nyack.edu

Q2) How do I log in to NoodleTools?

A2) You must set up a NoodleTools account at the Nyack College Library/ATS Library website while on campus.  Go to the “Research Assistance” link and click on NoodleTools.  Once you have done so you will be able to log in to NoodleTools from anywhere.

Q3) How do I renew my library book?

A3) Under “Quick Links” on the bottom left of the library home page www.nyack.edu/library click on “My Library Account.”  Log in with your “Single Sign On.”  Once inside “My Library Account” you will be able to renew your book unless you have already reached your maximum number of renewals.  If you have reached your maximum number of renewals you must return the book.  If no one has placed a hold request on it, you may be able to check it out again after it has been returned

Q4) How do I find a library book?

A4) Go to our library homepage <www.nyack.edu/library>, go to “Library Resources,” and then go to “Search Encore.”  You can limit the format to “print book” or “ebook” as desired.

Q5) How do I find a scholarly (peer-reviewed) journal article on my topic?

A5) On the library homepagewww.nyack.edu/library go to “Search Encore” under “Find Library Materials.”  After entering desired search terms click on the “Articles Plus” tab to retrieve articles on your topic.  Another option is to choose “Databases by Subject” under “Quick Links” on the bottom left of the library home page www.nyack.edu/library> and select the desired discipline and databases.

Q6) What is the library’s policy regarding the purchase of textbooks?

A6) A textbook is described as a book to be used in the classroom to introduce students to a subject.  Commonly, textbooks include study questions, discussion topics, study guides or exercises at the end of each chapter and may be published in subsequent editions in order to update information in previous editions.

In general, standard undergraduate-level textbooks are not purchased and added to the library collection.  Selected editions of textbooks may be acquired (on a case-by-case basis) if they have long-term research and study value.  Personal or desk copies of textbooks provided by professors will be placed on reserve and returned at the end of the term.

Q7) If my class’s book is not on reserve yet, what should I do?

A7) Please contact a library staff person at your campus to see if the book has been received from your professor.

Q8) Do all the libraries have the same books?

A8) Each library has resources supporting programs taught at the respective locations.  Reference titles or heavily used titles may be owned by more than one library.  Circulating items may be requested and delivered to the Nyack/ATS library of your choice.
